Step-by-step process to implementing a PM strategy that could transform your organization
In today’s highly competitive landscape, it is critical to understand and implement a great project management strategy for your organization.
What is project management strategy?
It’s a framework on how you run your projects, initiatives, and business activities.
You run more projects than you think! Every business has projects, so it’s critical to implement an effective project management strategy.
But how do you actually find and implement a great project management strategy? Let me give you an overview.
Step 1: Do a gap analysis
You need to know where you are today so that you know where to go tomorrow.
If you jump right into a strategic framework without understanding your gaps, you might be missing some things… your gaps might be too large!
Look at things like:
- What kinds of projects and initiatives you do
- What worked well in the past
- What didn’t work in the past
- Challenges that you frequently face
You have to discover the gaps so that you can create a strategic framework that addresses your issues.
Step 2: Pick a framework that will work for your organization
The next step is to pick a framework that takes your projects from concept to close while addressing the gaps you’ve identified.
There are several project management frameworks out there. Choosing and implementing the right one will make a huge difference in your organization’s success.
