Are you wondering what needs to be included in project management status reports?
Creating a project management status report does not have to be difficult.
Here’s exactly what you need to know about making an effective project management status report.
What is a project status report?
A project status report summarizes what your project progress is in comparison to project plan.
There are many ways you can do this: you can put your project status report in a word document, you can put it in a PowerPoint, or even create a page on a web-based platform.
The project status report should be sent to all the stakeholders of the project – anybody who touches the project!
How often should you send a project status update?
It is typically most effective to send project status updates once a month. This allows new progress to be made so that there are enough new things that have happened, making the current status report different from the last.
Project Summary
A project summary is the first thing you need to include in your project status report.
You want to include the information that will remind people what you are doing, so this is a great place to put the scope statement.
Also include high-level milestones and give an over-arching view on what you’re doing and when it needs to get done.
What else to include in a project status report
There are a few important items you need to include in every project status update. I wanted to make sure we don’t miss any of them, so I created a YouTube video all about what to include in a project status report.
Head over to my channel and we’ll continue talking about this there!
I really hope that you found this helpful – and if you did, it would mean so much to me if you would share it on your social media.
Meanwhile, if you really are committed to mastering your next project, do consider taking my SLAY Project Management online course where I show you step-by-step how to successfully manage a project, plus you get access to every template you will need, along with detailed video instructions on how to fill them out.
