How to know if you need project management training to accelerate your career
Are you wondering if you should get project management training?
Perhaps you want to switch careers, or you want to upgrade your current project management skills. Or, you could have been laid off and you’re looking for a brand-new skillset so you can find another job.
Whether you’re brand new to project management or already have project management experience, training might be a necessary next step for you.
Let’s talk about how to know if you should get project management training.
Why consider project management?
First and foremost, project management is in high demand!
In fact, the Project Management Institute expects 22 million new PM job openings by 2027 worldwide.
Project management is a skillset that is needed in every industry; it’s not industry specific. As a result, the opportunities are astronomical!
Do a self-assessment
There are a few questions you can ask yourself to figure out if getting some project management training is a necessary next step for you.
Here are three example questions:
- Do you feel like you have some growth to do when it comes to leading teams?
- Have you ever had a project fail or come close to failing?
- Do you get intimidated or feel lost when it comes to paperwork and documentation on projects?
There are a whole bunch of other questions that you could ask yourself. But if you answered yes to any of these three questions, then you should definitely be considering getting some project management training as a next step for growth in your career.
In my latest YouTube video, I give you even more self-assessment questions that will really help you pin down what level of project management training you need, and some options you can take when it comes to getting solid project management training.
