Things you need to know about managing project resources effectively
Running a successful project is about managing your scope, time, and budget… but you can’t do that without understanding your resources.
You need to know how to manage project resources.
So, let’s talk about project resource management tips.
What is project resource management?
Project resource management is about identifying, acquiring, and managing the resources needed for the successful completion of the project. You need to ensure that the right resources will be available at the right time.
What are some resources that you have to consider?
- Human resources: These are the people that you need to bring onto your project to execute tasks.
- Financial resources: How much budget do you need for this project?
- Materials/equipment/supplies: These are the physical things that you need to execute tasks.
It all starts with planning
In order to get really good at project resource management, you need to get clear on what exactly you’re doing in the project, how many people are needed, who is needed, and what you need to purchase to get it done.
One great way to lay out this information is through the scope statement.
When you get clear on what needs to happen in the project by asking the right questions, you can start the process of effective resource management.
