The exact responsibilities you need to focus your attention on as a project manager!
Project managers are responsible for SO much… It can be extremely overwhelming. If you’re an overwhelmed project manager, you can make your life a whole lot easier by breaking everything down into the most critical places to focus your attention.
Let’s talk about some of the most critical project manager responsibilities that you should focus on if you want to achieve success on your projects!
1. Planning
Planning is the baseline for everything in project management. You have to ensure that you have everything you need to be successful not only for yourself, but for your team!
Ensure that you have your project planned in terms of what tasks need to get done, what your timeline will be, budget, and ensure that your team has everything they need at their fingertips.
Having a solid project plan should be your #1 priority as a project manager!
2. Establish the vision
The vision of your project is so important.
The vision gives you all the background information and the justification you need to get your project done.
When everyone understands the WHY of the project, it helps your project team connect the dots and be more motivated and productive on that project.
3. Managing Documentation
Everything in project management ultimately comes down to the paperwork. If you want to have a successful project, you can’t skip over the documentation of it.
When something pops up, you should have the ability to go directly to a document, folder, or file with all the latest information.
As much as projects are about executing, risk mitigation, and planning, it’s also about ensuring that all your documents are up-to-date. Documentation is worth the effort 10 times out of 10!
