All the basics of project change control
In today’s day and age, when it comes to projects, they’re becoming more complex. And with more complex projects comes more change associated with those projects. You need to know how to organize and manage change control in your projects if you want to run successful projects.
What is Change Control?
Change control means that every change you make to your approved baseline project plan ought to go through some sort of change control management.
Anything that you’re going to change from a perspective of scope, time, or budget that will shift from your original project parameters needs to go through change control.
Project Change Control Key Elements
There are a few key elements when it comes to project change control.
The first one is change identification. This is about having an understanding of what change is being asked.
Once you understand what’s being asked, you then have to analyze it to understand the impact.
When the analysis has happened, next you have to respond to the change. Are you accepting it? Rejecting it?
Finally, you need to communicate about the change. You’ll need to communicate exactly what you’ve decided to do, what the impact is, and what next steps need to occur.
