Know when you’re running a project
Most people run projects without realizing they’re running a project and then wonder why things aren’t going well.
A lot of times, people just don’t understand what a project is. There’s a common misunderstanding that projects always have to be these huge, complex initiatives with multi-layered teams and huge deliverables. But that’s not necessarily true.
So, what is a project?
A project is an activity that has a definitive start and end, with tasks that will achieve a specific deliverable within a selective time frame.
After hearing that definition, most people realize that they actually DO run projects!
Understand the deliverable
You need to know exactly what you’re doing and understand your deliverable, right from the beginning stages.
By understanding why you’re doing the project, what’s expected from you, and who you’re going to need, you’re able to define the whole project properly. This will help you with the end result of the project, which is the deliverable.
When you’re really clear on all these details, you’re on the right track to succeed.
If you’re not, then it becomes much easier for the project to fail because you’re not totally clear on what needs to occur.
