You cannot be strategic if you’re constantly firefighting.
I see lots of projects that don’t really have a standard approach… Everyone is doing their own thing, thinking they’re adding value, but they’re actually being counterproductive.
A strategic project manager is a proactive project manager who has a standard approach that they ensure everyone understands and implements.
Everyone needs to be on the same page with looking at risks and dealing with issues that pop up. If you have a solid framework from start to finish, this makes your strategic leadership abilities excellent.
