Here’s how leaving behind project management will damage your project
Are you wondering if project management is really necessary? I’m sure you could see the answer coming on this one: YES, it is! But you want to know WHY…
Not having a project manager means you’re setting your project up to be run poorly. And having a project that’s not run properly means wasting time, resources, budgets, and more. I can GUARANTEE you that this won’t make for a successful project.
But really, what are the REASONS why it’s important to have a project manager?
1 – Enables strategic alignment
Every organization has goals and strategies that they want implemented and accomplished. So, where does a project manager fit into all this? Project management is directly connected to enabling strategic alignment. A project manager is prepared to see and understand the organization’s goals and strategies and align them with the project goals.
2 – Increases efficiency
Who doesn’t want to be more efficient?! Proper project management increases efficiency in both time and resources. It ensures everyone is following a standardized approach; every project goes through the same internal checklist to ensure its success. If something were to happen, such as someone needing to leave the project or organization midway through for some reason, it’s easy to have other people jump in because everyone is using the same standard methodology.
3 – Ensures focus and direction
Embracing project management principles ensures that everything the company works on has focus and direction. Project management allows everyone to stay on track and stay on the same page. With someone dedicated to the management of the project, other team members can focus on the individual tasks they need to accomplish to make the project successful.
There’s more!
Of course, there’s more! Don’t rule out the idea of a project manager without learning all the reasons why they’re necessary.
