Everything you’ll be responsible for on your project!

Are you a new project manager or thinking about becoming a project manager? There are some critical project manager responsibilities that you need to be aware of to ensure a successful project.

  1. Project Planning

This is a bit of a no-brainer. If you are managing a project, then planning is a huge part of that process!

When you do project planning, in the initial stages of your project, you need to outline all the baseline items you need to ensure success. That baseline will give you a starting point for creating the rest of your project plan and ultimately, executing your project.

  1. Risk and Change Management

This is something that can often get lost in the shuffle of executing tasks on the project. But risk and change management are absolutely critical responsibilities for a project manager.

Risk is guaranteed to happen, and you can’t be successful if you’re scrambling. This is where risk identification and mitigation plans come into play. If you don’t have those plans in place, your project will derail quickly.

  1. Firefighting

In a perfect world, everything on your project would go according to plan… but that’s not the reality!

As you progress in your project, you’ll start to gain more information and items that feed into your project.

If you have a solid project plan, you won’t deviate too much from your plan and the firefighting will be minimal and manageable. But the reality is that it happens either way, so you need to be prepared to address issues as they arise.
