Everything you need to know about networking to accelerate your career
Are you struggling to expand your network? Or maybe just want to improve your networking skills a little? People don’t always love networking, but it is an important step to advancing your career, finding new opportunities, and learning from other people in your line of work.
If you need help learning how to network, or even if you just want a refresher on networking tips, here are some ideas on how to start building your network today.
Start with a positive attitude about networking
It’s a lot of energy and effort to network effectively, which is why many people are reluctant to do it. If that’s you, start by changing your attitude towards networking.
Think about how impactful it is to your career. If you’re focused on advancing your career and being better at what you do, then think positively about networking and how it can help you get to where you want to go.
Give it the energy and effort it requires, because the best opportunities in your career will come through connections with people who really know you and, as a result, trust your expertise.
Nurture your network
It’s not just about growing your network. At the end of the day, having someone on your LinkedIn profile means nothing if you don’t interact with and benefit from each other in some way. Networking is also about maintaining and nurturing the connections you already have.
Think about sending emails, seeing how people are doing, posting things on LinkedIn that your connections might find helpful, and sharing information with other people that might benefit them. This gives you an extra level of relationship building that will ultimately help with your career, because people will start to know you better.
If you’re thinking this all sounds a little too time consuming, don’t get overwhelmed. Something as simple as taking 5 minutes a day to interact with your LinkedIn connections or send an email to one person can make all the difference. It doesn’t need to be a huge task to add to your to-do list!
Other ways to grow your network
These aren’t the only networking tips that will help you accelerate your career. I’ve made a quick YouTube video that dives into a few more tips that you won’t want to miss out on. Head over there with me and we’ll finish this conversation!
I really hope that you found this helpful – and if you did, it would mean so much to me if you would share it on your social media.
