How to Set Your Meetings Up for Success
Something I’ve been doing for years is setting meeting ground rules. And let me tell you, I could not go back to facilitating a meeting without them! Meeting ground rules set up a meeting for success and will help you avoid problems like people coming back late from breaks, being distracted by their phones, or not being respectful of each other’s opinions. And who wouldn’t want that?
A while ago, I created a go-to poster of session rules that always help me set my meetings up for success. All the tips on it are tried and true techniques that I’ve seen consistently work to keep a meeting productive.
That’s why I thought it would be helpful to share these with you! In today’s video, we’ll go over some simple session rules and a breakdown of why they’re all important. And here’s a sneak peak of some of the reasons:
- Setting ground rules increases respect
- Setting ground rules helps all participants stay focused and on track
- Having ground rules will make your meetings productive
- Having ground rules will ensure that meeting time is spent resolving something or coming up with new ideas so that everyone can walk out with action items
I’ve never heard of a professional who doesn’t want more productive meetings. So, whether you facilitate meetings, or attend them often as a participant, you’ll want to check out these meeting ground rules so that you can incorporate them in your next meeting.
Meet me on YouTube and we’ll go over them together!
