A few simple ways proven to improve your productivity at work!
Have you ever finished the workday and then found that your to-do list feels longer than it was at the start of the day? Increasing your productivity at work is easy with a few minor adjustments.
Productivity is all about knowing what you have to do, when you have to do it, and then being disciplined about it. But sometimes this is easier said than done.
Trust me, I get it: It’s not easy to always stick 100% with your schedule. Unexpected issues come up that you have to deal with. Or sometimes you’re simply not feeling that great.
So, what do you do about this?
These productivity hacks will help you deal with those moments so that you stay as productive as possible, all the time.
1. Plan your day
You’ve probably heard about the importance of planning before. But how much of your time are you actually supposed to plan out? And what happens if you can’t stick to it?
This is where I like the 60/40 rule. The idea is that you never plan for 100% of your time. You plan 60% of your time and leave 40% free. This is so that you can stick to the fundamental aspects of your schedule but deal with contingencies as they arise (and believe me, unexpected issues WILL pop up that you need to deal with).
Planning also means planning LONG TERM. This means planning the night before, but also planning at the beginning of every week to see what meetings and deliverables are coming up.
I recommend that you take this even a step further by planning at the beginning of every month. It’s great to look at your month in overview and see what commitments you have coming up. We all know time flies, and you certainly don’t want a huge commitment to creep up on you when you’re not prepared for it!
2. Establish a routine
You need to have a solid routine in place as well. At the same time, it’s important to have flexibility with this.
What does that look like?
Focus on sticking with the key elements of your routine but having flexibility when needed. Get most of the heavy lifting done at your prime time (whatever time of day you’re most productive), and keep this routine as consistent as possible.
