Using your communication plan to ensure your project doesn’t fail!
Your project communication plan is vital to any project that you run. In fact, most projects that fail do so because they don’t have an effective communication plan (or worse, no communication plan at all)!
What’s the point of a communication plan?
A project communication plan is a document that lays out all the different types of communication that you’ll have in your project and how stakeholders are going to receive that communication.
Don’t forget, project stakeholders include your team members, all the way out to senior executives and the end user of the project deliverable.
A great project communication plan equates to project success and less headaches.
What’s in a communication plan?
Remember, a project communication plan is a summary document of all the communication you’ll be doing throughout the project.
So, what do you need to include in your communication plan?
For every type of communication method listed, you’ll also have to share why that type of communication is being sent. Additionally, you’ll need to outline who will create the content, who will check the content, who will send out the content, who will receive the content, additional comments pertaining to the content, and outline the method that will be used to ensure that the recipient read and understood the communication.
That may sound like a lot, but it’s really not that complicated when you see a communication plan in practice.
That’s why I’ve created a YouTube video to walk you through exactly what a good project communication plan looks like and how exactly to make one.
