A project manager’s complete guide!
Have you heard about risk registers in projects but don’t know how to make them or even why they’re so important?
Risk registers are one of the most critical documents that any successful project requires. So, it’s important for every project manager to know the details about risk registers including what exactly they’re used for, why they’re so important, and how to create one.
So, let’s talk about that!
What is a risk register?
If you’ve done any type of project, you’ll know that risk is guaranteed to happen on projects.
Something you didn’t plan for will always occur. The goal is to not let it derail your project… And that’s where a risk register comes in!
The risk register is a tool that is used to identify potential risks that could occur on the project you’re working on.
When to create a risk register
Lots of people think that it should be done in the middle of the project, but a risk register should actually happen THROUGHOUT the project.
You need to start your risk register at the beginning of the project because you probably already have an idea during the beginning stages of a project about what some potential risks are. As the project progresses, new risks are going to pop up or additional risks to the original ones that you identified.
A risk register is something that you should already have created from the beginning of the project so you can keep it in the back of your mind and ensure that you know how to handle those risks if and when they occur.
